From Content Creator to a Community of Designer Handbag Lovers
Nica Yusay began her journey in 2014, establishing a name on social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok in 2020 with a focus on women's fashion. As her following grew, she shifted her focus to designer handbags, leveraging social media to sell authentic vintage pieces via third-party platforms. Despite the high costs associated with these platforms, Nica invested $15,000 from her corporate job to acquire handbags that resonated personally, regardless of their popularity.
Her discerning taste and intuitive understanding of market desires led to increased demand for these handbags on her social channels. Motivated by her passion, Nica committed herself full-time outside her day job as a Digital Marketing Brand Manager to develop FashioNica, supported by her fiancé, Quang Che. Together, they launched the online store www.shopfashionica.com in July 2021.
Introducing "The Bag Drop"
The online store introduced "The Bag Drop," a unique feature connecting all social media platforms. Nica hosts live sessions an hour before each drop to discuss and showcase the designer handbags sourced that week, available for purchase every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. PT. The selection includes luxury brands like Hermes, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton. These events have become a hallmark of the brand, with bags typically selling out within minutes.
This strategy has significantly expanded the brand's online community, with followers in the hundreds of thousands across various platforms, transforming FashioNica into a profitable business. Under the leadership of Nica as CEO and Quang as CFO and CTO, the company has grown into a multi-million dollar enterprise.
Nica's Quest for Finds Started at a Young Age
Nica's affinity for fashion began in her youth when she shopped in thrift stores as her single mother strived to provide. This early experience of finding quality at low prices laid the groundwork for her future business success, allowing her to cultivate a multi-million dollar enterprise from her keen eye for fashion.
The Brand's Partnerships
The company is dedicated to authenticity, with each item undergoing multiple authentications before sale. The company employs Entrupy, a leading authentication service that combines AI technology and experienced professionals to ensure each item's authenticity. Additionally, FashioNica collaborates with Cobbler Concierge for professional restoration and partners with Whatnot, a live auction app, enhancing the customer shopping experience and ensuring authenticity.
